Qlik Sense 301 teaches users to bring data in from various sources to build Qlik Sense apps from scratch. 

Time: About 6 hours

Prerequisites: Qlik Sense 201 and 202, or equivalent

The main topics are:

  • Building a Qlik Sense application using the Data Manager
  • Building a Qlik Sense application using the Data Load Editor


By the end of the course, learners will understand:

  • How to create a new Qlik Sense application using the Data Manager
  • How to use the Data Manager to extract data, make basic data adjustments, and connect different sources together without writing code.
  • The basic principles of the ETL process (extract, transform and load)
  • How to create a new Qlik Sense application using the Data Load Editor, including the LOAD statement, concatenating tables, commenting, renaming fields, creating fields and correcting synthetic keys and circular references.
  • The general approach to create a star schema in Qlik Sense with different data sources (data modeling), and how to identify and distinguish data Facts and Dimensions
  • How Qlik Sense QVD files are typically organized and structured in an organization
  • The different considerations to take when building a Qlik Sense app using Excel, CSV and QVD files
  • How to create Qlik Sense master measures, dimensions and visualizations, including drill down dimensions and custom color encoding
  • How to make a new variable and understands when to apply them in Qlik Sense sheets
  • How to publish an app to a Qlik Sense stream and how to edit or move a published app to another stream.


Requirements: To follow along, your Qlik Administrator needs to install a Qlik app (.qvf file) on your company’s Qlik Sense Server and adjust user privileges. Instructions and files are included for both your Admin and User:
